how can u go online with civ 3

just get the civ 3 conquests 1.22 patch and connect to the game lobby
there are ladder games and open games starting from time to time

ok so it seems i got the patch and tryed it sayd insert cd and i somehow hade a no cd thing for it and tryed that and it acted lik it wanted to boot up and got to the black screen then said i guess an error and i jus hade to shut it down but seems to almost wants to boot up lik orignal civ 3 ne thoughts?

I dont exactly understand what it is actually doing through the way you posted the description of the problem. Do you get through to the menu with new game, options, multiplayer, etc.? Or does it not even get to that point. If you go into multiplayer, does it ask for internet, LAN, etc.? Or crash out there?
Without being specific, no one will be able to answer anything. Which version are you running PTW or Conquests? If you are trying to get it to work without the disk, you may give the disc a try.
well it seems i can play jus normal civ3 but i tryed the conquest v1.22 patch and put the no cd thing to it... it jus goes to a black screen lik it almost wants to boot up and wont get to the menu but seems to be close so i dunno.. and useing the disk i cant say i know how to do that 
... and i tryed the ptw v1.27f(us) and tryed a no cd thing but doesnt even try to respond to it so i dunno wats wrong with either of em jus seeing if ne one else hade this prob... the civ3 seem be fine tho so i dunno... thanks for ne help and info you can give ^^ its allways appericated if not o well
