I am interested in trying a One City Challenge, but was wondering how you could possibly win such a game.

Clearly cultural is out (can’t have three cities). Space race also seems near impossible, as it would take forever to build all those parts in a single city while being unable to rush them.

Any thoughts?

Conquest or Diplomatic seem to be the best routs for OCC. The best part about Conquest is that all the cities you take get razed, so you have no maintenance issues.

A Duel sized map with 18 civs? Then everyone is in roughly the same boat. Probably defeats the purpose though :)

One nice thing about OCC is you can build all the national wonders in one city, you are not limited to just 2.

Oh, that is nice. Makes it a tad easier.

There is a great guide in the Strategy Article forum for OCC.

It's really pretty fun. You have to play on a small map and take off time, culture and domination ( or is it conquest..the one that requires 65% land mass)

I really like the OCC, and play it about every 6th or 7th game as a change of pace. I play on a small or duel map, pangea, with 3 other civs, and leave all the victory conditions on. I know I can't win certain ways, but I find it more interesting when I have to prevent the computer from winning with them as well. So far I haven't lost, but I only win by time because I tend to wait too long to make my conquest push.
