Two questions:

1. How close should you put your cities together? Or rather, how close is too close? I've been spreading them out, but I'm thinking that early on, I might want them closer, but I don't want them so close that I stunt my city growth.

2. Is there any way to link units together so that I can move them around with one click? I know about armies, but I mean some way of lumping together a couple of units and making them stay togethr without manually doing all the clicking.

3. In Civ II, I used the shift-click to get units to move to a predetermined location. Now, is the only way to get them to do that is by clicking on the move icon?

4. WHen I'm in the negotiation screen to talk to the other civs, the actual talking options end up at the bottom of the screen and aren't very visible (I have to highlight them to see them). Also, many options scroll past the bottom of the screen and are unavailable. What setting do I need to change to fix that? No other screens have viewing issues.

Thanks!

I would say building cities 4 or 5 squares apart is good.

No, I don't think so.

You can drag the unit to the destination. A line that shows the path the unit will take will show up when you do that. It's a pretty neat feature. :)

Maybe you can adjust the position of your monitor screen? Monitors have controls that let you move the screen up or down, or to the sides.

Hope this helps.

Right - click on the unit and drag to select a destination, OR - you can also click and hold on the destination until a path appears.

With either method you get a red line showing the route the unit will take and a number at the end (usually not visible when moving into a city...) that shows how many turns it will take.

You can also press the G key and select your destination

I have put cities as close as one square apart(one space between). I have been averaging two squares apart around my capital and foreign palace to maximize production and reduce corruption. There doesn't appear to be a a big slowdown on population.
