This is very strange. I'm playing vanilla CivIII and have destroyed every civ, and yet the game won't end and declare me victorious. Since I defeated my last civ, I've gone a few turns and the game still keeps going.

Another wierd thing is, I've haven't been able to locate one final luxury. I've searched every bit of land and ocean but can't find it.

Sounds like you've got a settler on a boat somewhere. Do you see anyone in your F4 Advisor's screen?

Is the game already over? Perhaps you've already tripped a victory condition.

Best bet would be to upload a save, and we can look at it.

Domination was a victory condition I had checked, and I would have thought that I would have tripped that long ago, but there was no notification.

Did the AI win by another victory? Are you sure you had conquest and domination victories checked? Did you win or lose by another victory?

if domination is enables, but not conquest, you perhaps need more cities.

Domination is achieved when you have 2/3 of the world's land area within your cultural borders, and 2/3 of the worlds population, though pop shouldnt be a problem.

build more cities.

Don't know anything about the resource generator though, you probably would have to ask someone more experienced than I :)

No, there is no other civ left. My picture is the only one on the advisor screen.
Have you explored the whole map? Baybe there's a civ on a small island or something that you haven't conquered yet.

There was no notification of another civ or myself winning. Why would I still be playing then?

The year is about 1430.

I have over 80 cities.

I'm playing a standard map, and there are only 7 luxuries. I've explored every black spot on the oceans, and I've conquered every bit of land. I've done the ctrl-shift-m to look for the missing luxury as well.

I'm the only civ on the military advisor screen. I've destroyed seven other civs.

Please post a save so we can look at it. This will help greatly in determining what's going on.

I don't know. You've only got Domination and Space Race enabled. I had thought that you maybe didn't have enough tiles for the domination win (obviously you've got more than enough pop) but it looks like you're over that limit.

I guess play it until you get the space race. But that wouldn't be much fun.

I loaded the save into C3C and checked the victory status screen.
You need to cover more tiles to reach the domination limit. Rush a few libraries/build more cities.

about the luxs: What bingen said. Sometimes there's a lux missing. Happened three times to me in vanilla games, twice gems and once silks were missing (as well on standart sized maps with a bunch of jungle/forest/mountain tiles!).
The prob is more common on smaller maps and even 'usual' on size-costomized (very, very tiny) maps.

I had checked the domination limit with CivAssist, and C3MultiTool. All said it was over the dom limit....

My first glance at the map suggested that the dom limit wasn't reached, but when I loaded the save into the programs, it said they were below it....

:hmm:

Occam's Razor: The Tools are wrong.

BTW, is it really sooo difficult to check the Victory Status Screen once in a while?

Well that's pretty interesting. I guess I need rush build some culture or build a few cities in the conquered lands. With 99% corruption, I always felt why bother. Or next time make sure I have Victory by Conquest checked.

I assume CivIII vanilla doesn't have a Victory Status Screen.

Thanks a bunch.

Question remains if the C3C screen shows the correct data for a vanilla game. At least the enabled victory conditons seem to work right. "Turns-in-game" number apparently did not, though.

But I resigned from the game and the defeat message showed up as well as the hammer dude plus replay screen. I guess this would not happen in case a victory condition had been triggered already?
:hmm:
