Well, I was at the wal mart, and I was looking through a bin of "discount" games, and when I saw Civilization III for about 10 dollars, I began jumping up and down

Found it at a computer store 4 years ago. CompuSmart, IIRC.

I bought it the day it came out in the Netherlands. Somewhere in 2001 IIRC. A 100 guilders it costed and it came in one of those big old-fashioned cartboard boxes with a big manual.

Oo, those were the days...

Bought vanilla way back when. I don't even remember. Probably 2001-02-ish. I think it was at a Wiz. I was there for a completely unrelated reason, but it caught my eye.

Any you guys who came across a copy of Civ3 Complete are lucky for sure.
High demand and the launch of "Civ Chronicles" makes Civ3 very scarce at least in my Town.
Futurechop(Best Buy) doesn't even carry the title I was told, so to make a better mark up on the Chronics

Got a $30.00 gift card from Best Buy for my birthday in 2004. Saw C3C for $29.99, and thought, "Hmm... I've always wanted to try that kind of game out!" Worked out well...

I'm a fan of reading about history, and a friend on a bulletin board recommended the game. I got vanilla Civ3 from Amazon and, after finding and reading this forum, upgraded to Conquests from Amazon. After my disks became corrupted, I bought Complete from Amazon as well. They have very reasonable prices and fast delivery times.

my grandmother had gotten me civ 2 all that time ago and i feel in love with it, and when civ III came out i was antsy waiting to get it from walmart, waiting for the price to get down low enough so i could afford it

I was looking for games at CompUSA in the summer of '03. I think I was originally going to get Rise of Nations, but I saw Civ III for $30, thought it looked pretty cool, and went with it instead. I still don't have RoN. Civ came with a 200-page manual and the works. I got Conquests for Christmas of '04.

I bought vanilla on an impulse buy for $10 at WalMart. Never thought it was the game it turned out to be.

So I had to go buy Complete after a while - I think I paid $40 or something like that.

My dad's friend gave vanilla to us for FREE and I got Conquests in Canadia.

I did recently buy my vanilla copy for $10.oo at WM. I remember being very miffed that a game of this quality was not behind lock and key. (As it was when I started buying Civ games back in '91)

My brother and I had gotten Civ2 as a present a few years after it came out. We played it a lot and enjoyed it, so when Civ3 came out, my brother wanted to buy it. I didn't really want to, but he convinced me, and now I play it much more than him. ;) We ended up buying it at a Circuit City in the summer of 2002.

Since then, I've gotten PTW, C3C, and Civ4 off Amazon.com.
