How did you get your copy?

I was playing Sims "day and night" (Brazilian expression), and I used to visit a dedicated Sims site just like this is a dedicated CIV site. That was this thread about addictive games, and civ was the most talked about it. So I check online to see reviews, and it looks really good. So when I had a chance, at a store that sold games, I saw the civ games. It had civ II, III gold and I think it had conquest (complete wasn't out yet), so I went for civ gold, because I tough, "its gold, so it must be the best one"...lol. And that's how I got my copy ;).

I was looking for Arcanum on eBay, and Civ3 came in a bundle with Arcanum and about 4 other games. I haven't played any Arcanum since I took up Civ.

I got my original Civ 3 from a friend on a bootleg CD, actually. You could only be America and if you ever met a third nation, it would crash. In March of 06, I was at a Half Price Books and saw Vanilla there. I loved my version, but I wanted one that actually worked. I bought it (5 bucks!), and about the same time joined CFC. A couple months later I found Complate at Gamestop for 20 dollars and got that.

2 years ago i got my tax return check back. i went out and bought a new pc, new chair and a computer desk (tiny one). i went out and bought a TON of groceries. i went to circuit city and bought the civ3 pack and came home and made an entire month of freetime civ time lol.
the sad part is i had much more fun playing civ2. i was a little disappointed at civ3 when i first popped it in. but i came around cause i realized it was just that different than civ2.
a few years later i lost my CD :( so now im a civ2er again. but as soon as i get a few bucks im going to buy it again. im dying to play 3

I got the demo in a copy of PC Gamer magazine, played it untill my eyes were bleeding then ran to comp usa and bought it, then each expansion pack as it was released also from comp usa.
I just brushed the dust off it after a two year hiatus and building a new machine to reinstall it and start playing all over again. Oh and found this place too!

One of my wife's friends gave me my copy of vanilla Civ 3 back in 2002. I played the hell out of it for two years, then kinda got bored with gaming. I reinstalled that old copy at the beginning of March and played it a bit, and then saw a copy of Complete at a local target for $20. I bought it, and it's been Conquests ever since.

The expression 'day and night' is fairly common in all English-speaking coutnries. :)

I must thank my father 1,000,000,000 times for what he introduced me to 1 year and 4 months ago (christmas 2005)

of course, I still have about 999,999,998 "thank-you"s to go!

Human life expectancy: ~2,500,000,000 seconds.
Time to say 'thank you' in most languages: ~.5 to 1 second.
You have your work cut out for you. :D

and, considering the fact that I've already been alive for a little less than 600,000,000 seconds, that's even less!!

ok, so maybe I'll just thank my dad 100 times...if that. But, I am extremely grateful, cuz, i mean, this is the best game in the world!!!!

That it is. :)

I used to be a huge fan of RTS games (Starcraft, Warcraft 3, Age of Empires), and went to battlereports.com alot. There they had a battlereport (think like all the stuff posted in an SG game, but more cohesive and with more picture) about Civ3. I recalled seeing this game somewhere, and after looking through my computer game CD box, I found it near the bottom. Played that for a few months, then got conquests for $20 from E.B. Games.

I still have no idea how Civ3 got into that box.

But if you get him interested in the game, you'll never need to say Thank You again!

(One note of caution: wait until both you and he can play at the same time, which means two copies of the game and two PCs. This will prevent a lot of conflicts! :D )

sadly, I don't think my dad would be interested in the game :(

I think he regrets getting me the game...he says I spend too much time playing Civ III

ummm, he's probably right on that one :crazyeye:
