I just took over a barbarian settlement, and thought that it would be good to take care of, but when it became mine, it has only one square of border! (The city itself). And it has no production and cannot build anything. This was the spot that I was planning to build on with my settler. I can't seem to find the button to abandon the town!

Maybe just, declaring war on somebody weak, let your units leave it, and your enemies walk in! Make peace again, and let them have it, it obviously is useless if production is made extinct there.

OR

Give your nearest and weakest ally it, go to war, attack it. When you have won it dont you get the option to Raze it? If so, raze it, move in your settler and your sorted.

I dont' want to go to war with anyone. They did give me an option to raze the settlement, but I thought it would be like a normal town. Isn't there suppose to be an abandon city button somewhere? I can't seem to find it.

What am I suppose to do with this useless settlement now? It can't produce culture or hammers! And this was where I was going to build my city.

You can't raze your own city. I'd just give it away or even trade it for something...the AI will like you for it, and you won't have to deal with the maintenance costs.

Maybe you're encountering resistance, after taking it over? Have you tried waiting a few turns to see if anything changes?

Yes, the city is in resistance. It has smoke coming out of it, right? Give it a few turns to settle down, and the city will expand to the normal radius.

oops.. nevermind
