How do I capture a "princess"?

Hi everybody, I'm not so used with this forum, so I don't know if I'm asking my question in the right place. If not, please don't kill me. ;)

Anyway, I'm currently playing a 16-civ-random map with C3C, with "Capture the princess" mode on. I've already defeated French and Othmans, but... I didn't managed to capture their Princesses!

I mean, I read on the Civilopedia that I should look for a "Capture" action, but I can't find the button / keyboard shortcut / whatever.

Where can I find it? Or which unit I should use to capture that bi... units? :) Or have I lost forever that - precious - 2.000 Victory Points?

Thank you very much.

You cant capture, because of the princess units immobility flag, once you capture the city it is in, it becomes yours, and it cant move, so cspture the princess doesnt work. I havent tried it with the immobility flag off in the editor yet.

Doesnt work? That doesnt sound right. Did they create a mode in playing and then made it impossible to finish becouse of a immobile flag? Not that ive tried it out but sure sounds wierd.

Well Findus, I'm kind of amazed too.

Fact is: when I right-click i.e. Paris to see which units are garrisoned in, I see the "Princess" line coloured with red. And when I try to move that :wallbash: unit, it just doesn't move...

Guess SG-17 is right... but I'm sure, there MUST be a solution for it...

It says in the civilopedia that the princess moves with the unit first unit that captured the city with her. Maybe you should move that unit and see what happens and maybe you capture her when you reach your own capitol and then use capture?

I dunno.

You capture the princess with a unit, and you bring that unit back to your capital I believe. :)

Once you capture it, where do you take it?

The Firaxis scenarios that have "princess" units (though they are treasure units in those) are worth victory points ONLY once you bring them back to a victory point location and/or your capital.

I think in order for it to work properly you have to have Victory Point Locations turned on, and/or Reverse Capture the Flag, so that the regular game will function more like the scenarios with this feature.

Then again it may not work at all unless you use the editor to set up the game specifically to allow it like in a scenario. I could never get my troops to "capture" that princess either. Only stand over that square and guard her against being captured by other civs. I think it's something that only works "right" in scenarios.

The unit can capture the princess, and bring it back to the capital IIRC.

Very disappointing...

So would this do for a princess scenario?

Edit: So it does work? Im getting more and more confused from this conversation...

Ok, I'll be more precise. :)

I am currently running a 16-civ random map (I'm Tokunawa of Japanese), and I enabled all the kind of victories (Military, Space, Cultural...) AND "Capture the Princess" mode.

When I conquered Paris and Istanbul, in both cases I didn't managed to take the Princess to my capitol or anywhere, 'cause of the Immobility flag...

I fear that this problem hasn't a solution...

Well, I can live - and win - without these 2k VP. I'm the strongest guy on my map... and I have still 13 civs to defeat. They're gonna pay this bug! :D

Thank you guys! CivFanatics rocks! :)

I think you have to send one of your unit, say a warrior, within the tile of where is the pricess (so the Paris city). When the warrior is active you should see a new button below on the screen: this allow to "load" the princess on the warrior.

After that, the warrior name will be displayed in red. When the warrior reaches the capitol disappears and you gain the 2k points.

This mechanism is also replied in the Age of Discovery scenario where you have to bring treasures (units that cannot move) to the capitol.

I wonder if perhaps those treasure chests are not "immobile" as in the Immobile flag is checked, they just merely have a movement rate of zero, waiting to inherit the movement rate of whatever they load with, like an Army.

I'll have to look into this...
