How do I get a Steam Account?

Hey, I just bought The Orange Box and now it appears I have to make a Steam Account! How do I do that?

As soon as this question is answered, this thread may be closed.

Do you already have Steam installed? IIRC it auto-prompted me to create an account immediatley after installation...just fill in the boxes, enter an email address and your away as I recall.

If you haven't installed it yet, just stick the Orange Box disc in and go from there, Steam should be on the disc.

I always assumed that once you installed the game it also gives you the option to install Steam. once you've done that then you can sign up with that

I don't think it's optional with things like the Orange Box, but yeah that's pretty much how it works.

I've installed Steam. I never saw such an option.

When you run steam it tries to tell you to log in. If you don't have an account, you make one.

It's kind of like creating a forum account... just run Steam and it should have a button somewhere for creating a steam account.

Press the button I highlighted, and follow the steps.
