Playing a new game of SMAX (v2 w/ 2k/XP patch + unofficial patch) and I can't for the life of me figure out how to heal native life form units? I have 3 Battle Ogre MK1 units at 20, 50, and 60% damage and really no clue how to heal them.

Battle Ogres don't heal. It's part of their hard-coded behavior.

Wow what stupid units then. Thanks for reply.

off topic

It's almost laughable how little this game "taxes" a modern PC. No measurable CPU usage and 40MB of memory. Alot has progressed since 1999.

One suggestion for Ogres: Use them until they have 80-90% damage. Then send them to a base that's building a SP (or something else that requires lots of minerals). Disband the Ogre in the base for extra minerals. Also, even a damaged unit supplies extra police powers for drone control.

The whole point of Battle Ogres is that they're really overpowered when you first get them from a Pod (very early in the game), but they don't last long, so getting one doesn't make you an automatic superpower.

The Progenitor factions can also build more, which can give them a major advantage in very early-game warfare.

Note that native life can heal; Battle Ogres are not native life, but apparently Progenitor creations.

I have played quite a few games of XFire but I never knew that the aliens could build more battle ogres.

Each Progenitor faction receives a free Ogre at the start of the game, which is perhaps what Hightower was thinking of. No faction can build ogres, although they can be popped from pods.

Thanks, then I remember correctly.

Hmm, correct. I got it totally wrong. It's been an extremely long time since I played with the Progenitors.
