How do I start a LAN game?

How do I network my two computers to start a LAN multiplayer game. My brother and I would like to play simultaneously. Does both CPU's need to be connected to the internet?

The easiest way is to actually by a network hub. They're not that expensive. Install the netowrk cards in the PCs and connect them to the hub - the install should be fairly easy. Once you've done that, then Civ should detect the network and allow you to play.
