how do you build offshore platforms?

In a recent game, I had the tech, built a workboat, but there was no button to build a offshore platform. What am I missing?

Personally I've never needed to build one, but i believe they require Plastics. As long as the tile was in your cultural borders and your workboat was on top of it, I have no idea what else could be the problem.

If you look at oil platforms in the civopedia you will see what the requirements are. It takes alot more than the discovery of oil

Yes, scientific method reveals oil, combustion enables it on land, plastics enables it on water.

Yes, this was at the end of the game. I had all of the techs, including plastics. When I moved onto the water tile, there was no button to build the platform. Afterwards, reading up, I think I could have issued the "o" command to do it. Can someone confirm that there should be a button to do this, and not just a keyboard command. Either there is a bug, or I missed something stupid.

There is definetely a button for it. But if you press automate then it should go straight for the oil if possible.

You need the following:

• Scientific Method and Plastics
• workboat on tile
• tile is inside your borders
• workboat has movement points left

The last one on the list shouldn't stop the button from appearing though.

If it still doesn't work, it must be a bug. The shortcut is the 'o' key.

Ok, you're probably remembering from back in the day (I think it was civ call to power) when you could build offshore platforms anywhere. Anyway... glad we cleared that up. Thanks Poppis!
