How do you check what version of Civ 4, warlords, or BTS you're running? It would be very helpful for me to know.

Game Menu -> Advanced Options -> Version

Just keep in mind that there's a bug in BTS 3.13 such that it usually displays an older version number. Best way to be sure is to look at C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Readme.htm .

about this build will tell you
3.0.0.1
as the version of BtS if it is patched properly to 3.13 - looking at the readme is not a good idea since there are two versions:
3.0.0.86
3.0.0.93 (91?)
that result from corrupted patches and do install the readme sometimes. If in doubt post your about this build text :)

I thought BTS 3.13 told you lots of different things in "About This Build" even if patched properly. I didn't realize there was a Readme.htm issue. I have another idea: look at the date stamp of Civ4BeyondSword.exe (in the same directory as I posted before):

6/23/07 = 3.00
7/12/07 = 3.02
9/27/07 = 3.13

Or is there yet another thing I've overlooked with date stamps? :)

If it is patched properly About this build will always be the same - except that the time stamp is time zone dependent. But with the mess caused by failed patches I would not trust any single file - except of course init.log, but that only generates if you enable logging, so I'd go with about this build...
