How do you end a trade embargo

Many years ago I made trade embargoes agains three other civs as part of a larger war strategy. But now the war is over and I want to start trading with those civs again.

But I have no idea how to end the embargoes. I assumed that like wars they would automatically end after 20 turns, but it feels like they've gone on much longer than that.

Is there any way to manually force the end of an embargo?

Yes, simply go see the civilizations and go in the active table option in the bottom right for remove trade embargos from the past

Propose a deal. At the bottom of that is a button called "active". You should see the trade embargos. Just click them and clear the table and they will be gone!

I presume that you don't have the 'Always Renegotiate Deals' checked in your Preferences settings. That's fine, many players recommend that, but I'd advise you to keep an eye on all deals you have with the AI as some may continue long after you want them to. For example, if you buy a tech plus a lux in one deal for say 60gpt, you will continue to pay the 60gpt for the lux until you cancel the deal as the AI will be quite happy with the situation! Another situation where you will want to make sure that deals are cancelled is if you have any 20+ turn alliances when you are about to negotiate peace. Negotiate a PT with an alliance still in place and you'll suffer a rep hit and an attitude hit-not good!

You can keep an eye on deals by using the F4 screen and clicking on the 'Details' tab. Cancel any deals you do not want to continue once the 20 turns are up as decribed by the others. An alternative way of keping check of such things is to have CivAssistII or MapStat running in the background which enable you to see all your game data at a glance. Download them from the utilities forum of this site.
