How do you finish a culture win

I think I know the criteria for a culture win, something like 100,000 overall points or a city with 20K. But once this has happened how do you trigger the win. I know I have had 100,000 before and the computer did not automatically stop the game like a domination. Do you have to retire for this to take effect?

You have to have over 100,000 culture and more than double the culture of any other civ. For the single city victory you just need the 20,000.

When you reach the condition it will give a popup saying you have achieved a cultural victory.

Is there any way to know how much culture the other civs have, ie. a spy function?

You can see it on the histogram with F8. That doesn't give you the exact number, so if it's close that won't help much, but it will at least let you see who is in the race with you and who is a total non-factor. If you're planning on a culture victory from the get-go, you can just keep an eye on the histogram and start small wars with anyone who looks to be a likely rival.

There is also a program somewhere that will analyze your saved game and tell you things like how many turns until you reach 100K (or 20K) and how much culture the other civilizations have.

I assume that program is in the utilities section? I will search for it later, unless somebody knows off-hand. I realized soon after posting that I could check the histogram, must have slipped my mind. Thanks for the help.

Evidently the program is considered an exploit.
