Once you negotiate a trade with onother civ, how do you cancel later on if you want to? If you negotiate a trade imbargo against anothe civ, or if they declare war on you, how do you stop trading with them?

Go to the trade screen like you were trying to start a new trade. At the bottom, you'll see New and Active. It pulls up New by default. If you click on the Active icon, it will pull up all active trades and agreements. If they are still within the 20 turn term of the agreement, a number shows up next to the deal. If past the 20 turn term, they won't show a number, and you can click on the agreement to renegotiate or cancel it.

An easier way (IMO) is to go to preferences and set preferences to 'Always renegotiate'. That way you don't have to remember when things are expiring. Peace Treaties are the only ones that auto-renew if you check that preference.

Thanks Billindenver. I will pass this along to my son (31 yrs old)
who still thinks he can beat me in this game!

I had the same question a while back. I found I could not stop a trade within the 20 turns it was in effect, and I needed the uranium I was giving up. I got the advice here that I could get rid of any road connecting to my last remaining source of uranium (the other two of mine depleted while the trade was in effect) and this would have the effect of cancelling the trade. Of course, you take a reputation hit this way, but it may be worth it. I have not had the chance to try this personally, but it was the advice I was given at this forum.
