How does cannibalism work?

I'm a little confused. I tried cannibalism for the first time.
I started a game and ended up with another civ right next to me. I captured on of their units very early on and sent them back to London. It was far too early to start slavery so I decide to use them on the cannibalism word view.
I didn't get any other captives until I launched my attack on their city. It was right after being able to build mace men. I captured a second one of there units in the fighting and sent them back to London but cant find anyway to eat them or to do anything else using cannibalism.
I'm I missing something or am I just not far enough into the game to use it?

You should be able to eat them. Do you have a save showing this bug? If so post it and I will have a look.

edit one of the things I was going to add to this but was not able to figure out how to achieve it was to have eating captives contribute to food related techs like Cusine

I think I added it right.
I ended up using the captive for something else but found an auto save and finished moving it to the capital. Still can't find any button or anything to eat them so here you go.
This is with the svn. Not sure if its the newest but should be close if its not.

Sorry. The saves from before the update breaking saves. Not very far behind that point but I don't know the number.
Also since it was so early on in the game I abandoned that game to update to the newest version. Not sure if you'll be able to find anything useful from it or not. But still thank you for looking into it.

And that's why I can't profile the crash. Maybe it helps DH to know there's an issue there. Try to replicate on the current SVN and I can at least profile the crash.
