How does the length of games compare to Civ IV?

I just about finished a Normal speed game in 4 hours, and it used to take 8-10 hours for Civ IV. Is Colonization really shorter, or am I just playing differently resulting in shorter games?

I can't answer for Civ IV but my games of Colonization generally run at around 40 hours.

Across how many days do you play those 40 hours?

It usually takes me about a week to complete a game - I prefer really big maps and long games.
