How expensive is a palace build

Could someone explain to me the formula, that determines how expensive a palace build is? I know it depends on the number of cities. Does it depend on the difficulty level too, i.e. can it be derived from your OCN? Either way, I'd like to know the numbers behind that.

Well that's not the answer. It depends on the size (number of cities) of your empire.

I'm pretty sure it's a hundred shields and I don't think it matters how many cities you have.

Sorry, but to both of you, but: It is totally pointless to answer a question if you don't know the answer - in fact it is just spamming. I did not post the above without knowing what I say. Load up any save game with a reasonable developed empire and you can check that it is not always 100 shields, no matter what you read in the civlopedia.
