I like Sci ones, but not for territory, but for research. Territory is not very important, cities are. Though it's connected, I try to settle as much as I can in the early game and build Temples/Library later.
I don't. If you mean "cultural expansion" as causing/preventing flips, it's important to me. If you mean simply expanding borders, it's not very different from territory expansion, and a Library ot tighter city placement is enough.
well the more territory you have the faster you research so having a large area will get you to advance faster. Plus it allows you to have a large army since you can place cities close enough together so that their boundaries touch each other. When placing cities i make sure that their territory can expand around it without going into another cities territory. This makes me lots of cash and gives me territory. Remember, the more land you have the better the chance you have of getting all the strategic resources.
