The other day I was playing a normal game, and there was the Inc civilization (Papahuetec or smth like that ) with german's pikeman (lasnquenetes)

how is it possible?¿?¿

I didn't know that city states could give you unique units....is there any mod to increase that possibility?¿?¿:)

Playing as Egypt I got a Khan GG (with 5 movement) from a city state because I had the Educated Elite Policy recently. It was later game and I was playing for Culture, but I tell you, when I got that Khan it was super tempting to rush to tanks and go on a high-speed late game conquering spree. But I was so close to a culture win that I decided to forget about it and just replaced my current GG with the Khan.

I got a Khan from Brussels in my last game (I was Greece). Sadly at the time Brussels was completely surrounded by Mongols, who killed my Khan before he could get to safety.

I usually seem to get Great Engineers from Educated Elite - which is fine, but if I want a building or Wonder rushed, it can be a little irritating that they often take longer to get back to my territory than the building takes to complete...

Ok, that's different: One thing are Great People (that is from culture) and another one are units

I got a Siamese elephant by a military cs while playing Ottomans and Siam wasn't in the game.

I've gotten several UUs when I've had a military City state.

On the downside, I've also received the regular unit from a city state when playing a civ that had a UU.

This is the problem I have with Military CS gifting another civs UU. If you want to make them better, why not just let them build the player's UU? Or why not make it so they always give you units with XP? They only do that now if you're Siam (which is weird) or on Deity. I totally understand the need to make city states "more interesting" and would support almost any idea to achieve that goal... except this.

I've never seen it, but I can imagine I'd be a little disappointed to find myself in a war with another civ that was attacking me with my own UNIQUE unit. Just seems like nonsense to me.

I don't think we can see this. A unique UU will appear only if the civ related to this UU is not in the game. Maybe i'm wrong.

The last thread about this had a screen shot with the player (France) attacking Germany and German Foreign Legions. It's not a big deal, I just think they can do better.

Yes, your right, one is a Great person Unit and one is a Melee Unit, but both are Unique Units. I was looking at this thread as being about getting UU's, be it Great People UUs or Army UUs, when you would be unable to build or spawn them normally.

Yes, I totally agree Phil. It seems to always happen like that too, in my above mentioned game I had 4 C.S on my borders but the only ones giving me Great People were halfway across the map and had to cross ocean to get to my territory. It's the same problem if all your going to use the GP for is a golden age but need to wait 20 turns to get him home.

Ah just saw Phil's quote from last post. I never saw this myself before. Not a big deal but still pretty weird. ZOMBIE UNITS!!!

That would make sense to me because I play Greece, so I have city state allies all the time and I've NEVER gotten a UU (beside the Khan, which I have two of in my current game). I also play with 22 civs, so that would make it a lot less likely that I'd have ever seen this happen.
