How long does your Epic and Marathon games last?

I kinda feel that everything is going way to fast (playing everything on standard) and IIRC my games on Civ3 clocked between 15-25+ hours. This one wont take more than 7 I think.

Also if I choose Epic or Marathon, won't it feel drawn out somehow? Just more turns for things to get done or?

Marathon has a good 20-30 hrs of play involved. True that early on it takes a while to build stuff. But as the game goes on, this is not the case really. Things like forges and stuff still make things complete in a reasonable time. The only thing that I see that really changes noticabley is the availability of units and your capability to utilize the units of the ages. Late medeival and industrial still swoop by too fast to really upgrade much but it is much better than the faster speeds.

my epic games are normally about 8-12 hours, i dont play marathon because they take too long to get the early techs so i get bored.

When the game shipped i was really shocked from the civ 4 speeds.Epic also was really fast in my opinion i have never tried fast or normal because they are simply not fit to a civ game.Marathon in my opinion is perfect and i have never come back after the patch introduced it.Marathon lasts for me from 20-25 hous but in some games where i was really involved in wars with turns becoming longer it can be also 35 hours

Well I think the real thing is that the only thing that game speed really affects comparatively is unit movement (more unit movement in slow games)
it also supports more military
of course this is also about the only thing affected by map size (more unit movement needed on bigger maps)

So basically the speed:size I seem to like is
Marathon:Huge*
Marathon/Epic:Large
Epic:Normal
Normal:Small*
Quick:Tiny/Dual

*These are levels I actually play, depending on if I want a multi-Day game or few hours game

I see, any mods remedying this ? Making the game last longer but don't feel drawn out?

I'm a new player, but I can't figure out why my single player games take such a a short time. Some pciv always wins under the time victory condition after only a few turn, and changing the game speed setting doesn't seem to change this. What am I doing wrong?

You have a no cd crack, to solve this problem
1. Buy the game, it comes with a cd
2. put that cd into the computer when you want to play more than 10 turns
