Do you also find it difficult to exit the game as planned (e.g. after about an hour) and instead the One More Turn addiction takes over and you end up quitting after 5 more hours (forcefully, in the middle of a turn), angry with yourself for spending so much uninterrupted time on Civ 6? :)

How do you manage this signature Civ addiction?)

I have to rely on time-boxing to contain the addiction - family life and obligations help. I will usually play 2 hours during the week days and around 8 to 10 hours at the weekend. I always play Marathon / Huge map size, so every game lasts several weeks for me!

I don't like finishing a game I can't play completely in one sitting.

In my experience and with my settings, a full game of Civ 6 takes 10-12 hours.

Guess how many games I have completed?

I play on Switch, which has plenty of drawbacks but the one major benefit is that I can play in short spurts throughout the day. When I’m working from home, which is most of the time now, I’ll end up playing a bunch of short chunks in between actual work.

I do think this ends up making it harder to complete games though - because it’s broken up, I think I’m less invested in finishing them out and end up losing interest in most games by Ren/Industrial. For games I really like I will sometimes come back to finish, especially if I can find a longer piece of time to do it, but I probably only finish 1 out of 10 games that I take to turn 100.

several weeks, as a marathon&huge+ map game which i mostly plays on. Stop when i feels tired, unless something very important is coming up (war, settler waves, key tech/civic). 2-3 hours per session, depends on my exhaustion

I would take a shot at 500 games:crazyeye:
What settings do you play at? How many and how long breaks on average do you make during your single game?

My settings are in my signature, but I have been told that does not show up on mobile devices. Immortal, standard size maps and standard speed. (To be honest, I have been playing more emperor games lately). Steam has me clocked at just over 700 hours. I purchased the game on launch. I have completed 3 (three) games.

Breaks? A break breaks my "one sitting" rule.

I never claimed sanity.

Wow, 3 full games is unexpectedly few! In what game era do you generally quit? Is it because you lose interest after midgame when you know that your victory is just a matter of time?

Usually 2 hours, maybe 2-3 sessions of that for a whole game.
Do you also not complete games or do you play tiny maps at Online speed and Prince difficulty? ;)

I would do longer, but an hour tops for me. Real world obligations and not sitting around too much lol. A good marathon game can take me through many sessions and last a week. Those are my favorite! Faster speeds get way too fast for me.
I have to say you have patience and manage the One More Turn addiction perfectly!
What are your usual game settings (difficulty, speed etc.)?

Nope Emp to (rarely) Deity on Standard Sized/speed Maps. There are some games that are unfinished though.

I used to be able to finish Civ IV and V games in less than 2 hours. VI is slow af thanks to the bad UI.

I am usually chasing achievements. Settler because I’m not great at 6 like I am with 5 lol. I play random settings mostly to keep things fresh!

Oh wait, it should be pretty easy to show how my games usually are played since I recorded some way back when:

This game was a little over 3 hours long but was fairly quick.

4 hours is probably more normal.

in general, I don't micromanage, and planning is pretty basic and based on eyeballing things. Though I do care a bit about wonder placement. After the early game I just beeline techs/civics by putting it on some faraway desired tech. I don't have any long term plans though I will think about it more during breaks. I suppose it would be better if I constantly checked trade screens and get the best trade deals but who has time for that crap? Also I'll just quit games if it requires too much work like navigating stuff through narrow passages though I may play it to something considered a winnable position.

As I can see from your videos, you were playing on Pangaea maps. This map might make games easier and faster because you don't have to use navy much.

Fractal, though sometimes it does generate pangaealike maps sadly. However, I usually don't bother with other continents much because I hate domination victory. I personally find those easier because you can grab random islands and the AI is really bad at leaving its own continent.

It really doesn't change playing style much. On continents, for example, you can just focus on dominating your side of the world.
