How long would everyone suggest I wait on getting civ 5? I'm waiting for the price to drop, the AI to be improved, multiplayer to be fixed, and bugs in general to be mostly resolved. How long does everyone think it will take for these things to happen?
Thanks

maybe July, the'll likely be advertising or releasing a new expansion around summer.

Though if I were you, and provided you could, I'd get it and see what all the fuss is all about, you shouldn't buy so much into the hype, just don't get it thinking it's a continuation to BTS.

multiplayer will never be fixed

the developer is entirely incompetent and ignorant in this regard

AI will never be competent, but I guess they might improve it so that it manages to put up a fight when it gets like a 10x production speedup or something.

A good while yet.

If the "Do you think Civ V is doomed?" thread is any indication the majority of users here are going to tell you never :P.

You should try the demo and just keep following the patch notes which are usually posted here when 2kGreg releases info. It's impossible to put a time frame of patches and expansions unless you happen to work at Firaxis. I'm enjoying the game in its current state, although I do agree it needs a lot of improvement.

I bought it while drunk. I was planning to get it once expansions and more advanced mods arrived. Oh well.

I guess ad infinitum.

When work is announced on Civ6, then Civ 5 will be ideal (not joking... look at Civ4, BTS took a while to be fixed, and not too long after it was, Colonization was announced)

The next patch allegedly shall adress the mp issues. But there aren't any tangible announcements about date of release or content.
Bugs are quite a view and some have been introduced by the last patches.
AI (most prominent: combat and diplomacy) is in an aweful state and will require a massive overhaul.

It seems to be unlikely that all three things will be successfully adressed within the next three months.

You may want to check again around Easter.

My expectation is that the AI won't get significant improvements as this would literally mean re-coding.

I'd wait for Civ VI. I pre-ordered so I'm screwed, but you can still save yourself!

I would wait and see if Firaxis rescue the game.

As for paying for a patchspansion, funk dat!

Just wait until you see a sale. I got my copy for $35 because I got in on special. It's entirely playable in its current state, and I doubt the price would drop below what a good sale price would be in the foreseeable future.

If you are a type of player who flavours only those Civ4BTS, AC and EU2 kind of game, chances are you should probably never buy Civ 5 because I think it's a very different game and you will not like it patched or not.

However if you like many kinds of games including those war games or tactical simulation genre and happen to be also in love with strategy, why wait now. It's a great game for you bearing a bit of drawbacks which will inevitably be addressed. I hardly find big hit titles like Civ 5 go down in price prior to 1 year mark after the release.

While You're thinking about buying one I'll tell that I've already sold mine.
Glad I was able to refund (sort of refund) at least part of my wasted money.
Don't buy it tbh.

Multiplayer is in shambles. It's doubtful they will or can ever fix it - I imagine doing so would bring them severely overbudget. Wait until it's at bargin bin prices, like less than $5 just to see the game for the hell of it.

the price should drop around summer, as for good AI, and multiplayer if you want that find another game.
