Hiya all...new here and i am really getting into this game.

Was wondering tho...this doesnt seem a game like les say red alert..buid a huge army (mammoth tanks) and go destroy em all and finish it.

Very interesting as i am new at the civil thingy..but this game is seriously difficult..
Cannot seem to past the industrial age without getting powned.
Read al ot of the tips and that helped me a lot..thx all

But still i was wondering how long does it take for you guys to win les say a conquest game with 3 other civs..???

Because mine is going to take like forever(read 80+ hours..)

peace..:D

What level are you on? Can you post a save? I will give you advice.

With 3 opponents, it depends on your map size and type. With 3 opponents on a huge continent map, it could take quite a while depending on your victory conditions.

With practice, you'll get faster and better.

I remember with some of my first Chieftain games, I couldn't win by the 2050 AD mark. Now, I play on Regent and Monarch and I almost always have the game won by the early industrial ages.

Welcome!

In terms of playing time, my games take forever as conquest games imply LOTS of cities and therefore lots of workers and decisions on worker tasks, city planning etc. Warring takes time too. A one city challenge/cultural victory should be a much faster game

Turning off animations may shorten play time. Automating workers and relying on city managers will shorten play time both by speding up your play and losing much sooner ;)

The answer to all interesting questions, this one included, is "It depends."

A while back, I played an Always War game, 60% water, Standard continents map, Emporer difficulty, that I won by domination in the Modern Ages. It took me 150 or so hours to play.

On the other hand, I have also won by conquest without leaving the Ancient Age, using an 80% water Standard Pangaea map. That probably took me 3 or 4 hours to play.

The big variables are map size, number of AI civilizations and of course difficulty level. For me it's not about the win conditions set by the programmers, I'm a warmonger currently playing a huge map in the year 2470~, I enjoy the play turn by turn. Whatever you decide to pursue I envy your place in the learning curve for getting the scope and depth of this game, good luck.
