How much of the gameplay changes (tech tree changes, faith and religion, etc.) will be patched into Vanilla? Does anyone know?

I suspect none, although probably the AI will be improved.

I suspect none at all

Well, we do know there is going to be a patch before the XP, but the only thing I can't think of that we've learned so far that might be implemented in it rather than waiting for the XP would be the 10 --> 100 HP increase and maybe some of the Diplo changes (i.e. no more "You're trying to win the same way as we are." penalty). Other than that, I think everything else (Religion, Espionage, new civs, new units, new techs, altered tech tree, changes to existing civs' UAs, etc.) will be in the XP itself.

As others have said, I very much doubt any gameplay changes will make it to the Vanilla patch. It's probably more for bug-fixing, UI updates (like being able to skip the intro video), and perhaps a little bit of balance. All gameplay changes in the expansion will be reliant on the new features; e.g. the tech tree would've been configured around new units, religion, etc. So that sort of thing cannot be put into the Vanilla patch.

Moderator Action: Also, changed the thread title for clarity.

I did think of one I could see them doing. It's not an addition but a balancing thing anyway. That's the restriction of trade agreements to friends.

I came in to say this. I think the unit HP will be changed from 10 to 100 in vanilla. It seems like much more of a balance issue than a feature.
