I'm 13, and I feel sorry for anyone over 20 that plays civ. Really, GET A LIFE PEOPLE. If you stopped playing civ maybe you could get a date.

Adults can play games too. Civ is the best game ever, why the heck would we stop playing? because we are old? by the way, If you are 13 and don't have a girlfriend yet, then you should be getting a life.

18 on Sunday

Umm there is two votes for 30 or no votes for 30 depending on how you read it. I guess if your a young 30 you go with 20 to 30. If your an old 30 you go 30 to 40?

And umm young men. You know how in civ what you do at the start effects how the entire game goes? If anyone shouldnt be wasting their time playing games its the young folks. What you do right now is the rest of your life. Choose well.

Us old folks. It matters less the end game is insight. The path is picked. The cities are settled and the ground is worked. Were winning or were loosing but its pretty much decided. Oh we can have a mid empire crisis and flail out on some random project but what we will always know what we did when we were 13 to 25 mattered more then what we did when we were 30 to 40.

So anyway. I find it amusing that you think its the 30+ folks that should be concerned about their diversions.

Born during Eisenhower, served aboard a nuclear sub during Carter, 2 kids, 2 grandkids. No attacks HenryCCC, but a little respect goes a long way. And by the way, I plan on playing Civ IX when it comes out....

Easy buddy, some of us have dates and still enjoy Civ. Sometimes Civ is better than your date. I'm 24

Copy that. Ahh, relationships...been there, done that, got the multiple stab wounds between the shoulder blades to prove it...

Do we really need to start a half-joking thread on the many and varied ways that Civ is superior to a spouse? :p (Surely that's already been done around here, somewhere along the line...)

P.S. I was born when the Apollo missions were in low double-digits (how many turns from completion of the Apollo Program would that be now? :) ).

I always laugh that some of my guildees in everquest cant remember a time before the simpsons~

Once we were fixing to engage there was 54 of us and this player you call "a tank" was gone. And the raid leader says "where did SoAndSo go?" And someone speaks up "His mother made him log." And raid leader says "are you serious?" And that other person said "yeah"

So from now on its "everyone check with their mother and make sure they have time to finish"

It's interesting when you start to get old enough that you can start confusing significant numbers of people by referring to stuff that was before their time.

Take the old joke: "They took off all of Tammy Faye Bakker's makeup...and you know what they found underneath? Jimmy Hoffa!"

First I started to get blank looks and "who's Jimmy Hoffa?" A few years later and I started hearing, "who's Tammy Faye Bakker?"

Which shouldn't be surprising, I guess, coming from young'uns for whom Jay Leno has always been the host of The Tonight Show.

The most startling thing for me, though, is to realize that none of the college kids I deal with every day will ever really grok the Cold War. Some of this year's freshmen were hardly even walking when the Wall came down.

Guess I'd better go out and get me some Geritol...

I'm in my 30's, married with 2 kids, full time job and play about 3 hours a day on weeknights and 5-6 hours on weekends, who needs sleep anyway! Cant wait till I'm in my 70's, They never sleep so I should be getting a lot of turns in on Civ25!

Edit: I hear ya Kevin TMC, I have the same problem with the collage kids we get at work too. I give them a movie quote from say "Caddy Shack or Stripes" and they have no idea of what I'm talking about, lol.

Twenty, although I'm drawing near another birthday.

Ancient ... I remeber being taught with punch cards and ticker tape

Henry ... don't be so eager to rush grasshoppah ... you remind me about the story of the old and the young bull, on the hill, looking down at the herd of cows ;) ... story ends with young bull very tired and old bull still having fun with the cows :D

Boy, you guys really let henry have it!

henry, regarding your get a date comment, my girlfriend loves civ3 and civ4. In fact, sometimes our dates are just sitting down to a hotseat game. And your comment about getting a life; I have a career, kids, girlfriend, house...civ is an escape from that life! You'll understand one day.

oh, I'm 23 by the way...for a few more days. And glad to see the majority of you are in my age category.

im actually 28... but i answered achient cause well... thats what it feels like :) every time i think of my age, its like.. no.. thats how old my /aunt/ is supposed to be, not me!!!

not to mention your list ends at 40 and somehow seeing the 18-30 made me think of how old i really am :)

that and henrycccc reminding me just how long ive been playing.. it feels like forever.. that and hes my daughters age...

i find about 20 hours a week or so... somehow..lol.. between raising my daughter, working, and volunteering at the hospital, it helps that most of the time i can read the boards at work though :)
