Hello,

Do you know how to calculate the GNP exactly ?

Is it only gold coins in tales? certainly not, sometimes it goes up 2000...
Does it calculate bonuses from buildings ? Trade routes?

I guess it also counts shrines, corps and stuff, but it seem something has changed a lot in gnp from warlords to bts.

Any explanations are welcome,

Thanks

It's just the total commerce generated by your cities. Extra income from specialists, shrines etc. does not count.

EDIT: Yes, and I mean commerce, not gold.

No it's not - yesterday I noticed that GNP was varying a _lot_ - from (if I remember well) 200 to 500. It was caused by changing the science slider. I think that GNp now takes into account boost from buildings. I had Oxford in my capital so my total science boost was 20% (monasteries) +25% (library) +25% (university) +50% (Academy) +100% (Oxford) = 225%. For cash I had only +25% from Market. So I think that this difference in GNP was cause by buildings boost.
I was not changing anything in commerce generated, only how I used this commerce.

Hmm... Alright, then. I didn't test it with buildings, so forgive my inaccuracy. But I do know for sure that specialists don't affect this... Or maybe that has been changed. I'm still playing vanilla, you know.

EDIT: I just tested this again, but it seems that in vanilla, buildings have no effect on GNP. Only commerce seems to affect it.

Hmmm have you notices that we are in 'Civ4 - Beyond the Sword' forum? :) Of course we all know how GNP worked in vanilla and Warlords (before last patch) but it changed a lot in BtS. It seems to count even population points, but I might be wrong on this.
I will check c++ source which they bundle with BtS - mabe I will find how they compute it. I found there how they compute population of city (in thousands of people) from city size, so maybe I will find this as well.

Thx for the lil debate =)

It did changed alot, i wish someone could tell us the exact way its calculated.

Sometimes my gnp sux bad and sometimes it just sky rocket...

After a few tests, the GNP changes depending on your slider.

I thought the less research u have, the more gold, but its the contrary. The more you invest in research the bigger you GNP is...

after taking a pop point off a grassland forest tile (no commerce at all) and making him a scientist in a city with a library, my GNP rose by 5
3 x 1.25 is 3.75
meaning, WTH

this is all I can say so far
I am just glad specialists finally count, so now the graph is actually worth smth... before, with everyone doing SE it was friken pointless
GNPs of -50 and researching techs in 2-3 turns
yea...
THANK YOU

Do you have more research-multiplying than gold-multiplying buildings?

lol thats true :)

I wonder why they call it GNP(Gold) in the graph, it should be more like GNP(Research)
