How to compile CvGameCore Dll from the development version on Github?

Again, my thanks to all the mod developers for the amazing work on 4.02.
I was looking through the development version on Github, which is 419 commits ahead of 4.02 and I am trying to teach myself how to use and test the changes, as I like almost all the modifications. May I ask how, and which program can I compile the Dll for the development version?

Apologies to bother again. Did something change in the instructions for compiling the development version now? In 2023 I got to work following the instructions on github, but now, November 2024, the compile.pl gives me the error message : "nmake nmake is not recognized as an internal or external command,setup or batch file", or something to this effect. Should I get this file from somewhere else? Do I need now to download Visual Studio 2017 which is another 1.2 GB?

Compiler\Microsoft Visual C++ Toolkit 2003\bin\nmake.exe

You can copy this file into "project files" to fix the problem. It should work out of the box through, so maybe the compiler isn't in the right location. It should be in the mods folder.
