I haven't played Civ II in several years. I used to somehow edit the resources to say, change the default number of shields given by iron ore. I have forgotten how to do that. Can anyone refresh my memory on this?
I have version 2.42. I was running Civ2 with the terrain editor two pcs ago so I installed from the original cd. I want a version that has the terrain editor but not that Civ 2 gold- I don't want a big change to the game I love.
Which version should I update to? I can't wait to start playing!
I think the Editors were included in FW but I'm not sure. (You'd see an 'Editor' option in the game menu.)
Since most people now use Civ2:MGE (Multiplayer Gold Edition), it might be in your best interests to update your original version to that--although I thought the latest MGE patch was 2.42.
If you can't find MGE which is supposedly being resold in a package with other games, I'd just update using Cedric's patch...or you could buy ToT which is a little easier to find than MGE.
MGE has more aggressive AI but also offers more memory for Events as well as more triggers than the original (although I think these are available in FW). The AI has been the biggest complaint because it has a tendancy to break even the friendliest alliances just to make war on you the moment you get the slightest advantage. But then, that also means that the AI is less of a push-over. Suit yourself but if you want to make scens, MGE or ToT (with the latest patches) are recommended.
I don't know what you mean by "FW", but my old version had a terrain editor so I don't understand why this one doesn't. From what I can tell, Cedric's path takes you to MGE which I don't want because I want the game I know and love, not a ferocious AI or any major changes. I just want terrain editor! No big changes.
