How to get China to talk to me

I had an MPP with both Babylon and China. One turn before the MPP expired, I was forced into war with China because of the MPP. I want peace because China was buying techs from me for a good price. Also China has nothing in their territory that I want. China refuses to meet with me. When we do declare peace I want them to be as friendly with me as possible.

I can think of only three options. One, wait a few turns and then hopefully they will agree to meet me. Two, do a few limited engagements at sea then maybe they will meet with me. Three, land some troops in their territory and try to negotiate.

My goal is to have them not too upset with me. I am currently at war with India and have no desire to start a war somewhere else.

I also have a related question. Since we had some GPT deals going before the war started, how much of a rep hit did I end up taking?

I think yor reputation was hit forever, and you will never get credits from AIs. As far as I understood reputation either positive or negative in Civ3 (somebody claim that in real life also) and unfixeble. However, they will pay you for Tech as gpt, if you want.
As experts explain me, trade reputation and AI attitude are different things and uncorrelated.
Did China atack Babilon? If you wait and see, it may take 10-20 turns before they tallk to you. China is militaristic civ, so their aggresion level is high. It seems to me that positive result of your battles with China shold spped up the process. If you pillage tiles and destroy some units of their you may try to start negotiation. After war they will be upset against you some time (as a result you will get 10-20% less than in normal, but after some trades attitude will retirn.
