I aways make a super world..... i mean a capital(SSC) on super big river, nice grasslands, and all the farmlands... in the 18** comes first global warming, and then second, third, and bla bla.... in one sentence my SSC is turning to city ruin standing on big desert with starving people, and it is not fun to keep 30 ingineers working on deserts....then i stop playing or i try to build as many nuclear bombs as i can...(they already have SDI so it does not help anyway)... can i switch it off?:cry: (i hope that this option is not in toolbar ):( PLEASE GUYS. HELP MEEEEE....

second thing.... i read all the stuff on this page and i am much much better.... at firs t i could not beat a few prince AIs and now i keep kicking king level AI's that thing down there....
 
Global Warming appears when there is too much pollution (more than 9 skulls IIRC). This is due either to nuclear war or industrial growth.
To avoid it, you can clean pollution (send 2 engineers, press 'p') or prevent it.
To prevent nuclear war, you must take all AI cities building Manhattan Project before they complete it: this is not always easy to achieve.
To prevent industrial pollution you should build Mass Transit (especially if your city is big) + Solar Plant or Recycling Center.
 
I would go for Solar Plant and Mass Transit. Solar Plant removes all industrial pollution while the Recycling Center just removes 2/3 and Mass Transit removes the pop. pollution. The only drawback is that Solar Plant needs Factory, which in most circumstances increase pollution...

A city with a Solar Plant and Mass Transit will not produce any pollution at all, which means that it doesn't matter that you have a factory or Mfg. Plant in the city. If you don't want to build a factory, but still have a lot of shields and pollution in the city, a recycling center and MT will take care of it. (I think RC takes away all pollution up to 42?)

Another feature of solar plants is that they allow more pollution sculls in the world before global warming occurs. (Each plant allows 1/2 scull more). E.g. if the world allows 9 (?) sculls simultaneously originally, 10 solar plants totally will mean the world can handle up to 14 sculls simultaneously before GW occurs.

So, make sure you build MT in all big cities, build hoover dam (helps with medium production), build RC or SP in cities with huge production (or that need it) and don't leave sculls hangin around, clean them ASAP...

Question: can global warming be caused by the AI? It's never happened to me, but I'm cuious.
 
The AI doesn't produce any sculls. The only way they can produce sculls would be if they nuked you. (I'm not sure what happens when the AI nukes each other?)
 
Had the AI been able to produce pollution, I'm sure there would have been many more global warmings, which is really annoying...
 
There's a little trick (maybe it's a bug) that can prevent from pollution skulls:
Build airbase fields on every tile of your city - and pollution disappears but only for that city.
Mass transits and solar plants will solve the problem.
Since I like giant empires with more than 100 cities, I solve the problem the following way:
I send freights via "air mail" to other continents/islands to make money. With that money I rush the needed city improvements.
A freight of oil or uranium sent to a faraway city can bring up to 3000 gold!

That trick has some other benefits as well.;)

(It's generally considered cheating to build airbase on all squares)
