I just finished GOTM 72 and noticed that my peace score went up and down.
It looked like that wenn there was worldpeace or that I had peace with all the other civs I got 3 points added every turn for peace. Wenn I was at war with somebody the points lowered with 3 points every turn.

Does somebody know the exact rules when and how to get those peace points?

No combat anywhere on the map (except for barbs) after a certain date (can't remember when it starts counting, 1750's?); +3 points per turn up to the 100 maximum.

I actually thought that any combat during that time dropped the bonus back down to zero and had to start over, not that it only dropped by 3 points.

If I saw it correctly (but I have to look at my GOTM72 saves) I saw the peace points lowered from +6 to +3.

If I have time tomorrow I will look at the saves

We are sure that it is "no combat anywhere" and not "no combat between human player and any AI"? The human player has no control over whether the AI civs fight amongst themselves (unless he reduces them each to a single pet city...).

I did yesterday a little testing. You lose all you're peace points when you attack an enemy civ when you're cancel the peace treaty and fight them.
You get the +3 points bonus if you capture an empty city and does not fight at all.
The only two things I have to test is if the enemy only attacks me and I don't fight back it cost peace points and if it cost all points if fighting the enemy when already at war with them (no canceling treaty).

I'm pretty sure any kind of battle that involves the human player is grounds for cancelling the peace bonus, whether he is defending or attacking. I have also not seen the peace bonus accumulate if any declared wars involving the human player exist, whether or not there is actual fighting going on. All that makes sense to me; what I question is whether the AI fighting each other should cancel the peace bonus as well.

And yes, bribing an AI city does not lose the peace bonus, but note that it is impossible to bribe an AI capital.

This is one of those items that you check when you first find out about, then get it in your head its a certain way, then can't be certain of the details years later. So, testing we go:

What I just checked:

You can be in a state of war with other Civs and the peace bonus will accumulate.
Combat between two AI civs eliminates any accumulated peace bonus (not reduces it by 3 points).
