How to keep up with AI in Tech in 1.29?

Yes! :D They sure will pay you GPT for tech in v.1.29. But only after they actually are making some money, which usually is in the late middle ages. This is from the same game, where I net 767 GPT from the Greeks (actually it was 847 at one time, but I forgot to take a screenshot then). Most is from selling techs (Sanitation and Atomic theory):

hehe..very funny! but u neglected to mention that all-time favourite good government- monarchy. i play my games in monarchy till everyone is wiped out because i can't be bothered with micromanaging democracy/republic and communism is not well-suited for an empire that is organized such that u have all-mine-all-railroad-factories-banks-etc in the 2 industrial centres and irrigation-temple-marketplace elsewhere.


the other thing it could be is that you don't build any roads except for communication.
oh but i do...i could show u a screenshot sometime. maybe it's the all-mine thing. i ICS the industrial centres so population never quite reaches 12...

Yep I have just gotten gold per turn deals for tech as well under the v1.29 patch. In this case it was for some late middle age and industrial age techs
 
This is a good thread, guys.

However, one thing I can't find is how the 1.29f patch supposedly makes the AI value newer, more expensive techs more highly and if that compensates (somewhat) for the AI to AI trade rate on higher levels. I haven't had a chance to play much yet on 1.29f and I thought the game was really poorly thought out with the default AI to AI trade rates on earlier patches, that is, libraries and univerities were a poor investment on monarch thru deity, so I always set the trade rate to 100 before 1.29f, on all difficulty levels.

I think this change to vaule new techs higher is based on a quote from Soren, and it's not listed in the readme for 1.29f.
 
I tried an emperor game for about 80 turns. The AI to AI trading in 1.29f seems just as bad as before 1.29f. I'll lower it and start over, to make libraries and universities worthwhile.
