I would like a civ to have a special unique unit, that comes in its own unit class and that can't be built by any other civ. Obviously, usually, UUs are replacement units for a class that's shared amongst all civs, but I want something different. Is there a way to add a unit class that is only usable by one civ?

Adding a unit class doesn't automatically give it to all civs. If you give only your preferred civ the prerequisite, you have your unique UU. (The prereq should be non-researchable ofcourse.)

You could also make a unitclass and give it a default unit, then use the UU system to make the unique one, but not the original. I found this out when i accidently deleted the Galleon. Although the dutch could still build the East India Man, noone could build a galleon. A downside is that it did not say it was a unique unit in the 'pedia, it acted like a regular one.

Just make the Unit class have a default unit type of NONE.
What he said. :goodjob: Quick, painless and it works like a charm.

It's tips like this that should be compiled on a modding wiki. Which one is the current one again? The one at wikia?
