Hello!
I know how to set up the unit flags through XML. However, the .dds images my friend made do not show correctly in the game (Is the size 32*32 for each unit flag? And a black circle always shows in the middle of the flag icon). Could anybody tell me what format should we use to make the unit flags show correctly in the game?

This guy had exactly the same problem as I have, and no one solved it: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=439416&highlight=unit+flag

here's an image showing the issue:

do you use transparency in the DDS ?

I was able to get rid of the black circle by just deleting the black layer under my white icon artwork in Photoshop.

I saved it as DTX1 with 1-bit alpha

The only problem now is that when I save it there are some pale white artifacts around the icon which aren't easy to see - but it doesn't look as clean as the originals.

I still don't really understand the transparency things, because I just drew the icons with the white pencil tool in PS and it basically works with no other changes.

Of all the guides I have looked at none of them really explain what part is supposed to be what color or how to set up the layers. In the template the white circles have black around them, and those are over an all black layer - seems if you use the template stuff at all it just screws it up.

So does anyone have any suggestions?

I'll try to post a screenshot from steam: http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/594727976707863533/A9E791CCE381ED8755D0B9D5991F38AC549E56DE/

you should have only your icon in white and everything else deleted (transparent)

The black mark on the template are made to allow you to know where to draw your icon, but after that you should remove them.

Okay, thanks! So I deleted that stuff and it's transparent. My only problem now is that when i save it, it looks a bit messy with artifacting around the edges. Maybe it works better to save it from GIMP but so far in PS I can't find a way to save it that makes it clean.
