Slozenger has the answer to "onemoreturncivitis". I think it's time for him to give up his little secrets. Many relationships are at stake and I've been sworn to secrecy. :smug: Come on most of the experienced CIvers give up a few of their secrets...Mr. S.?

i may consider revealing my cure.. but id need more people asking for it 1st.

You have to understand your enemy, and develop a battle plan.

Mine is based on education, diversion and using the darkness.

Education: My wife has learned the importance of Civilization to me. She knows that she and Civ are on equal ground, and must learn to live in unison with each other.

Diversion: Civ is a great way to pass the time. Not everyone has the luxury of having a hobby that can keep you occupied for days on end, with the ability to stop and resume whenever you like. I try to find ways to keep my wife occupied - books, movies, hobbies etc so she doesn't feel like bothering me in the middle of a campaign.

Darkness - what better time to play Civ than at night, after loved ones have gone to bed. There is the risk you won't actually make it to bed, so an alternative is to get up super early and squeeze in a few turns before work.

And the laptop idea someone mentioned above is super. Take the laptop in front of TV, in bed while spouse is reading, or even on holiday while everyone else gets sunburned at the beach. A great way to mix "family time" with "civ time".

Sadu....you're good with a well developed plan but not "Slozenger good".

If I watch "Days of our Lives" with her on a semi-regular basis then I can sit on my butt and play.
I watch "Days" too, and that was how my husband got me to agree to his fishing trips BEFORE I discovered Civ. ;)

I work graveyard shift (10:30 pm until 7 am) while my wife works day shift. This works out great on the weekends since I'm typically up at night anyway. When you're awake all night throughout the week it's nearly impossible for me to sleep at night on the weekends. So since I'm up might as well play C3C.

One note, my wife likes her quiet time as well, as in she loves to read and listen to her music. We fit great together!

Conquerin Vagina is waaaaaaay more fun than conquering Rome.

lol,
yeah. Plus, which do you feel more happy about beatin!?!?

My wife just calls me a "sad sad man" (when I slope into bed at 3am on a weeknight...). Doesn't stop her playing Civ too, though, on her laptop :) She has some eccentric ideas about how it should be played mind, and probably won't be dissauded.

She always plays as France.
She has modded the game to give Workers, Warriors, and Settlers 3 movement points, and to allow floodplains to be mined.
She always plays on a huge map with very few opponents.
She never goes to war.

Hmm.

Neil.

My wife knows that if she wants a serious reply/conversation, to never approach me while gaming. But, I make sure I sit down with her frequently to converse about the day, etc.
