[C3C] How to open / modify pcx files

If I use these three (I pasted them into the Ancient .pcx) they don't show up. The game uses the ancient graphics for all eras.
My guess is that they need palette treatment too?
Theov... I use Paint Shop Pro 9 ( an old version) for years as it is easy and all I need concerning Graphics for the Civ Game.

Edit: I start by adding a pixel of Pure Magenta and a pixel of Pure Green to an area where I can easily paint out those colors with what should be there ... such as on the top label bar of Grey.
I then reduce colors to 256 colors.
Then I paint out the Magenta and Green with the same Grey color on the top Label Bar.
Then I increase colors to 16 million colors and Reduce colors to 256 colors... That leaves 2 slots at the end on the Palette where I then open the palette and add the Magenta and Green at the end.
Save as what ever name and as a .pcx. Finished.

You can get some assistance from the Members that also use Gimp.
I'm sorry, I have no idea how to do that in either Paint or GIMP.
TBH I find GIMP very counter-intuitive to use, that's why I use paint.net

Theov... those look Good. it really does not matter what Programs are used... only understanding how to use them matters to get what you want :)
Oops. I had attached the ones that somehow use another palette - so they didn't show in the game.
I can't use the 'ancient' palette or I'll lose many colors.

Could you see if you can change these?? Many thanks.
(I attached 3 correct images)

Theov... the middle was OK but the industrial and modern had Too Many shades in the label plates. That requires too many colors and causes the image to appear "Blotchy" in areas.
It is best to make those label areas fewer colors.

See if these will work for you:

It works!
They've come out pretty much how I imagined.

Thanks a million! The best Civilization gift of the year came just in time.
I'll see if I can adjust them so they can be playable with the standard tech tree.

What I want to change next is the colors of the arrows, but that takes more time than I thought.
Recoloring them is very easy by changing the hue and darkness eyc, but isolating the arrows isnt as easy as I thought.
