I'm thinking of playing a MOD, but I dont' want to lose GOTM-eligibility. I saved the original Civ3 settings thingy to its own file, so all the original settings can be copied back to civ3mod.bic when I play GOTMs. Is there anything else I need to backup now as the original before I go on playing MODs?

Whenever you want to play a mod, just choose "Play scenario" and choose that mod. You don't need to backup anything.

Some of the mods (like mine) are too extensive to play as scenarios. They change graphics files, unit files, civilopedia files, etc. Many of the established mods (like mine 
) have install and uninstall files so you can just pop the mod in and out when you want to play it. For the others you need to back up the original files and then restore them manually.
