How to slow down tech advancement

Hi there, reinstalling Civ IV after a long time!

I've always felt somehow anxious about the tech race in the game, i liked to play in marathon mode, but i would have liked to have even longer eras without slow construction times or slow everything.

is there a simple way to slow down tech advancement, and only tech advancement?

Research speed is determined by two XML settings:

CIV4TechInfos.xml: iCost is the amount of research each tech cost on normal game speed.

CIV4GameSpeedInfo.xml iResearchPercent is the percentage of iCost used for each game speed (normal = 100, marathon = 300 or 3 times the normal cost).

Modify those numbers to your liking. If I get your goal correctly, you want to play a normal game speed game, but research slower. This mean you can set iResearchPercent to something like 200 and it will take twice as long to research while everything else will be normal speed.
