How to take a city with fighters flying around?

You gotta take artillary without a doubt; It's something I rarely did in Civ3 and I only just realised how good it was after playing for about 2 years. In Civ4 artillary is very very useful. Use your fighters to take out his then bomb the defensive units (I just love collateral damage), then use artillary to take down his cities defences. It may take 2 turns, but with that many modern armour you won't have the slightest problem in winning.

Air force is quite useless against a city, which is so well-defensed against air. I mean if you have superior air force, the 3jets wouldnt be so bad, but with 10 mechanized infanty, each with 20% interception renders your airforce useless. If you are the aggressor always bring some siege units other then bombers too.

I don't find the mech infantry's interception to be an issue, as they're at the bottom of the ladder when it comes to interception priority, (jet fighter -> fighter -> sam infantry -> mech), the biggest issue comes from the overlapping coverage from surrounding cities. Depending on the map layout, the city you're attacking could have 4 or 5 cities worth of fighters providing interception. With an operational range of 10, a jet fighter could be halfway (or further) across an empire and still be providing air support to that border city.

Side note, slightly off-topic, the civlopedia is incorrect concerning mech infantry, they do not provide interception to adjacent squares, only the square they're on.

O, but each of them have 20% interception, so your chances to be unintercepted with 10mech infantries are: 0.8^10=low :D

Holy cow you just unconfused me into complete confusion. What? :crazyeye:

Edit:

Now that I'm done being confused, I can actually respond.

The interception chance isn't cumulative. Having 10 mech infantry simply means that you could potentially intercept 10 aircraft. I'm still not sure if your post was completely serious or not, so for now I'll assume it was (shame on me).
