How to win on Diety...

It's real simple, before you make the UN vote, make sure you haven't been to war with the voters, and before everyone votes, give the voters everything you have... Techs, workers, gold, lol, and you'll get a diplomatic victory if you vote for yourself, because everyone else will vote for you lol

Yeah, but staying alive and managing to build the UN is not too easy. But I agree that a diplo win is surprisingly easy to achieve.

Yeah, because the AI all are backstabbing, alliance-breaking, city-razing fiends. If you can get through the game without doing any of these things, the diplo victory is likely even without extraordinary measures (gifts, massive mpp's etc), because your AI competition will have shot themselves in the foot.

That really isn't the way to guarentee a deity UN victory.

If you have been breaking deals the AI's are likely to vote for the other guy, if you are at war with civ's they will vote for the other guy, if you don't build the UN you are generally screwed unless you get on to the vote through the other means, AND you get the votes.

Actually, I meant 'what if building the UN was pointless'. In my first (and, erm, only) deity victory, there were only 3 civs left alive by the time the UN came around.

You can still win with 2 votes out of three.

seems like anyone can do it then!

Actually 3 civs left makes the UN vote easy, since there are less AI's to buy off.

I'll let you know how it works at diety. So far I am undefeated at Monarch level and below. Haven't tried any higher levels yet.

Please do. I have never managed a diplomatic victory, playing deity. I have managed a cultural victory. But only because I killed all but one AI...
