how were u introduced to civ 3?

I was first introduced to this game in the year 2001 on gamespot. At first, when i looked at the screen shots of this game, i was shocked and amazed! seeing the clear blue ocean and the detailed lanscape with archers and warriors. I was hooked in jsut by the looks of the game. However, as i started playing, i kept on losing because i didnt understand how to play this game. I played on and off for a while until i found this website. Ever since then, i'd become a regular civ player

I had played some Civ2 but hadn't got around to trying Civ3 even though as I knew a couple of Civ3 addicts I kept intending to get it.

Then Gobi Bear (BreakAways Conquests producer) told me that BreakAway would be making a Civ3 xpack and early testing would start in about 6 weeks. So that day I rushed out and bought both Civ3 and PTW and quickly started learning how to play. A couple of days later I started doing some serious searching of the CivFanatics and Apolyton strategy forums and by the time testing started I was a reasonable player.

I played civ2 back in college (and I was shocked when I looked at some civ2 screenies on this site after I played civ3 - don't they look ugly?!). That was about 7 years ago.

Several year ago a friend mailed me a civ3 CD. I didn't bother to open it until sometime last year - and I was disappointed in finding the CD was scratched.

Then sometime later I borrowed a CD from a friend, and also found this web site. From then on I became a fan.

Enjoy CivII. My brother came and gave me CivIII. First time, I hate it, because it looked different with CivII. I didnt play until my brother called me and asked me to play CivIII with him during his next visit. I never want to lost any game to my younger brother. Start learning CivIII and keep loosing. Join forums, help me a lot (from chieftain to regent). Unfortunately, when my brother came, he was much better than me. Luckily, the game helped me. CivIII didnt do good in my home network. So, we canceled play the game over net . Another good thing was, my borther gave me Conquest with PTW in it. But from that point, I felt in love with CivIII (not the "multiplayer" though).

I wish I had bought Civ3 when it first came out, its definitely high on my list of all time favorite games now.

Im 17 so I never really played CIV 1 or 2 until some old timer said something to the effect of "I pity da fool who dont know his roots!" so I played thoose for a little while and surprisingly found CIV2 addictive...so naturally I bought Civ 3 soon after in 01 when I was like what 13...so yea Civ Grew with me...it was there when I started getting facial hair it celebrated when I got a job etc.

When my dad got a state of the art computer (133MHZ, etc), a software package came with it, and CivNet (windows version of civ1) was with it. I was so entranced! There was a civ2 demo, but it kept crashing, and a couple of years later I bought Civ2. When Civ3 came out and my computer was too slow to run it, guess what I did...I bought a new (second hand) one with my pocket money!!
