how were u introduced to civ 3?

A past war-game buddy of mine was addicted so he tried to get me the
same way . All he would really say was that " I HATE the
f-ing French" - he always played as the Germans - that was vanilla
Civ. He bought the game for me, I later reimbursed him , and have
liked it ever since . I C3C, mostly b/c of the all war scenarios.
My buddy has since moved on to be addicted to Medal of Honor, but I am
still stuck on civ.

my mom got it for me. At that time i was hooked on Starcraft, and I looked at the game a little dubiously. Then I played it a few times. Haven't looked at starcraft since.

First I thought it was dull, seeing other people playing it (I was a hardcore FPS and TPS type of gamer then). Now I must admit that civ have made my social life go down the drain!

Well, a friend of my mom's, a gamer like me, tried Civ3 and loved it. My mom, taking her friends advice, bought it for me at christmas. I was surprised(pleasantly), and i've been hooked on the game since then.

My buddy talked about "Civ" in the past. I picked it up for my son a few Christmas' ago and it collected dust for months. I was hooked on Starcraft also thanks to another friend that was a beta tester for them.

When I finally got the knack of the game and my other son got hooked I had passed the event horizon.

My friend that introduced me to the game actually shattered his copy of Civ3 because he had no ability to play in moderation. It was stressing his wife more than just a bit from what I gather.

I first started off on Civ for the playstation,then Civ2&TOT when i bought my first comp(only last year!!Luddite I hear you scream!),and a mate had Civ3 so i borrowed it for a while and didn't like it at first.But after a short break i went back to it and gave it another go and then went and bought my own copy with PTW expansion.Although it has taken a back seat at the moment to Sims I want to dick around some more with the units and my nation(The Empire of Bellicose) before I start playing again.
