He might mean he doesn't get the benefit because he has an overwhelming tech lead. The other interpretation is questionable since he posted on this Internet forum.

Well, he did say internet project, so I assume you are right antilogic. And judging by some of his other posts (if I'm thinkin of the right guy, there's a few with a lincoln avatar), I'd say if he always has that big of a tech lead that he never gets any techs from the internet, well, it's time to move up a level.

Internet is only useful with other people around your tech level. Even at Immortal I frequently find myself with only 1 run away AI who is comparable with me, the rest lagging. Unless I am severely behind I have very little use for it. Even in a space race there needs to be at least 2 AI's close or ahead for me to pursue it otherwise their are faster ways to launch.

I always get Internet simply because I don't want a rival civ with an advanced military as I do. That just makes Domination a bit more challenging if you will.
