Hello guys, 1rst post. This forum has been great for me so far but i have a question.

Civ V is the first Civ game i played but the wainting time between turns is killing the fun......

I have a brand new PC :

Intel SB i5 2400 3,1ghz
Amd hd 6950
4gb ram
1tb hdd

i know the game is demanding but i think this should handle the game quiet well

i'am playing on a 1920x1080 res
everything max out
map Huge- continents

But between turns around 1800 AD the wainting its 40-50 seconds and it's very frustating, is it normal? something i should know?

Yes, quite normal. :(

Sad fact is that the game is badly programmed, even worse than its predecessors.

The game is slowed most dramatically by large numbers of workers. On a huge map in the late game you are just going to see big slowdowns, not much to be done about it. You need to play on smaller maps or win faster to avoid it.

Yer I have a powerhouse of a machine but I still get slow gameplay in late stages of huge maps. I tend to browse the net in between moves when it gets like that.

Your system is quite powerful, but Civ V makes inefficient use of CPU power
Yes, quite normal. :(

Civ IV was coded horribly in the beginning, didn't get much better until nine months after release

I very much agree with that. I used to avoid the much larger maps for that very reason. In fact even after the addons and all the patches I would tend to think that it has been my hardware changes which has helped to make Civ IV playable on the larger maps in the later ages.
