Humankind - Turks discussion thread

Trust me I know that. :)
We export a lot of crops. We export a lot of wheat. But you know what - in June we import the wheat from Turkey. Why? Because they are to the south so they harvest wheat in Juna and we do it in July. It's cheaper to by and export "fresh" wheat compared to storing it for almost a year from July to June. So yeah, modern economy is quite unexpected sometimes.

We both have the same situation, and we are not alone: right across the Cascade Mountains from me is one of the great fruit-growing regions of the world, yet in the local store I can find the same types of fruit from Chile and Argentina - because they harvest in what would be our winter, so we get year-round fresh fruit by buying from the other hemisphere. The term "Global Economy" is a reality that penetrates right down to the individual level, at least in places like the USA and Europe.
