Compared to Cannon it has just lethal bombardment.

But, usually you don't need Cannons with Cavarly around (at least until Infantry).

What's your opinion?
And what good strategies can be used by Korean UU?

I think it is a useful unit especially if you move up in difficulty - you need a lot of artillery anyway and with the Hwach'a you even get a artillery which kills. And it is one of the UU which useful over a long time - I usually don't bother with upgrading them.It is nice to have a lethal artillery in the industrial or modern age.

I must say that problem with using ther lethality in modern age is usually that fast moving Cavarly can do the same (kill last 1hp), and can do that faster (effectively greater range).

But, it does help a lot in defensive wars, when mobility is not an issue.

The couple of times I have used the Koreans, I have also not upgraded them.

I find a mixed stack of h'wacha and arty is especially deadly. You can take over cities without risking a battle. Redline everyone with the arty, then kill with the h'wacha.

As someone posted, they're more effective on higher levels, when you are behind in tech. Facing rifles or infantry with MDI or even just cavs is not great odds.

Like Sesn said, it is good to use both Artillery and Hwach. One for the lethal bombardment and the other for the range.

A good stack of Cavalry or Tanks doubled up with Hwach/Artillery and infrantry and/or riflemen is very deadly. Any fast moving unit that tries to hit the stack won't be able to do much. Any slow moving unit will get hit by the artillery, then if they try to get closer, they can be killed by the Hwach's.

i think longsac mentioned something on how to use these somewhere - with lethal attack they theoretically can act like early bombers..which seems like that would be a powerful thing to have...(as a matter of fact i believe he wrote something to the effect that it can be almost an exploit...)

I think I answered in a thread regarding the H'wacha, but I cannot remember what I said... :crazyeye:
