Okay, for those following the on again/off again saga of Leowind's attempt to finish GOTM#2, here is the final (?) result: As of this writing, 11:59pm April 3, West Coast time, the game is FINISHED and sent to Matrix to do with as he pleases!!
Spaceship landed in 1774, giving me a score of 1556. This was my first time ever on King, and my earliest win by spaceship by far, so I feel good about what I did, even if it doesn't stack up well with everybody else. As mentioned elsewhere in this forum, I intend to keep playing the game to practice my modern warfare. I drained my treasury down to 73 gold building the spaceship and celebrating WLTP days, letting the other 5 civs left almost catch up in techs. They are all at war with me of course, and started bombing some of my cities towards the end. I lost several units, but no cities, and actually managed to capture one Jap city right before the end. I just discovered stealth and have several stealth fighters either on the scene or in production, so I should be able to go on the offensive soon.
