Ive had nothing but trouble with this game. Ive installed this game 2 times and uninstalled it. Ive put the patch on my pc but it still wont work. All I get is the message This is the wrong DVD Rom when I go to play the thing :( why do they have to relase such a bugy game? The last one I got was GTA SA which runs like a dreame.

there is now a nocd out there for 1.52. Now im not saying you should use it, but it is out there.

dont get me wrong, the game is great but i cant simply play it in my machine, and as far as i know the computer is fine, its incredible all the problems the game has.

Sure he should use it. Its called sd4hide, download it here: http://www.dvhardware.net/software/3116. It's not illegal to use with a game you purchased. Securom (the copy protection in civ4) is overly picky. It was not letting me start either and I have NEVER had any emulation software installed. I have no idea what it was detecting, but I'm not uninstalling everything on my machine to get a game to work. If this doesn't work, try updating your dvd drive drivers/firmware.

sd4hide isnt what im refering to. Im refering to a hacked civ4.exe that allows you to not use the cd.

What differnce does that make. This game is about as stable as a Birds Trifle.

1.00/1.09 super slow later in game random lockups & graphical crashes.

1.52 slow later in game random lockups & graphical crashes.

WinXP +SP2 + all critical patches.
Motherboard + Current Hyperions
GF6600GT + Current Forceware
Audigy + Current Drivers
AMD 64 +3200
1 Gig of Crucial 2-2-2-2-5
500GIG of HD space - 240 of which is C: a SATA RAID 0 where the game resides.

Everything else I have runs fine. I have re-installed 5 times now. Come back Civ 3...

I will try the XML Parser update before I takee the DVD back to the shops...:scan:

Neither is illegal with a game you bought but I would be careful with hacked .exe files. They tend to cause new problems of their own. Use as a last resort only.

Would the BBB down there handle something like this? A truck load of complaints is much deserved. I get the impression they're looking at the issues, but the fact that they exist is enough to have them hung, drawn and quartered. Just a thought.

I just uninstalled the game. It is a good game but so many problems that keep it from running well.

99% of the time they dont. Ive been using them since BBS' offered them in the dos days. You just have to know who makes them. If they are from RELOADED, they you are good to go.

I fully agree!!!
And since sd4hide didn't work for me (and I tried on THREE computers!) , I had to get the noDVD patch to get the game working...
